John Young, a mathematics teacher at the Pingree School in South Hamilton, has been competing in triathlon races throughout the summer and tomorrow will take part in the Witch City Triathlon starting at Forest River Park in Salem at 7 a.m.

  • Beverly council rejects mayor's trash fee hike BEVERLY — Mayor Bill Scanlon's proposal to raise the trash fee this year has ended up in the trash heap.
    The City Council voted Monday night to keep the annual fee at $100 for residents and $300 for businesses, rejecting Scanlon's request for a 40 percent increase.
