Game-by-game recap for 2013-14 Beverly High hockey

A capsule look at each game during the Beverly High hockey team’s championship season:

GAME 1: December 13

Beverly 4, Essex Junction, Vt. 1

Playing their season opener at “home” in Gloucester’s Talbot Rink, the Panthers got a dozen saves from senior goaltender Bryce Mitchell and two goals from captain Connor Irving to prevail. Senior Jake Straw also scored, while sophomore Tyler Cloutman notched his first varsity goal. RECORD: 1-0-0.

GAME 2: December 14

Beverly 6, Peabody 0

Junior Tim Birarelli made his first turn between the pipes a memorable one, stopping all 18 shots in a shutout performance. Senior J.J. Bachini scored twice, while Straw, Graham Doherty and defensemen Jack Morency and Nick Albano also lit the lamp. RECORD: 2-0-0.

GAME 3: December 18

Beverly 7, at Gloucester 1

Connor Irving’s hat trick led an offensive assault on the Fishermen. Juniors Teddy Leathersich and Jesse MacLaughlin, as well as senior Kevin Lally, all produced their first goals of the season, while J.J. Bachini had his third in three games. RECORD: 3-0-0.

GAME 4: December 21

Beverly 3, Danvers 0

Tim Birarelli stopped all 15 shots that came his way, as the Panthers clamped down defensively and blanked their arch rivals. Connor Irving produced two of the goals, including his second game-winner of the young season, and Kevin Lally also buried a shot. RECORD: 4-0-0.

GAME 5: December 23

Beverly 2, Newburyport 0

In a non-league contest at Salem State, senior center Graham Doherty scored his first two goals of the season, and Tim Birarelli vanquished 13 shots to give the Panthers their first win of the season over a Division 1 opponent. RECORD: 5-0-0

GAME 6: December 27

Beverly 6, Triton 2

In the opening round of the Cape Ann Savings Bank Tournament in Gloucester, the Orange-and-Black broke open a tight game as Jake Straw netted a pair of goals. Senior defenseman and captain Matt Hamor buried the game-winner. Other goals came off the sticks of J.J. Bachini, senior Ryan Santo and junior winger Clinton Cabral. RECORD: 6-0-0.
