Photographers’ favorite photos aren’t necessarily the ones that tell the big stories or capture the most important events of the year. The best photos -- whether of a fire scene, a dramatic moment at a sporting event, a political rally or just a toddler playing at the park — are ones that make a connection with viewers.
They may tug on our emotions, make us feel like part of the action, or just surprise us with an unexpected view of something ordinary.
