Photographers pick favorite images

The Salem News

Photographers’ favorite photos aren’t necessarily the ones that tell the big stories or capture the most important events of the year. The best photos -- whether of a fire scene, a dramatic moment at a sporting event, a political rally or just a toddler playing at the park — are ones that make a connection with viewers.

They may tug on our emotions, make us feel like part of the action, or just surprise us with an unexpected view of something ordinary.

We asked Salem News staff photographers Ken Yuszkus and David Le to choose some of their favorite images from the past year. Here are some of their picks.
