Marian Court commencement
SWAMPSCOTT — Marian Court College held its 47th commencement exercises Wednesday, May 23, at the college on Little's Point Road.

DANVERS — North Shore Community College held its 46th annual commencement last night. Patricia Meservey, president of Salem State, was the commencement speaker. Danvers resident Charles Desmond, chairman of the Massachusetts Board of Higher Education, delivered greetings from the board.

Salem ferry delayed
SALEM — The Salem ferry will be delayed at least a week.
Scheduled to begin the 2012 season on Memorial Day weekend, the expected launch of the 149-passenger, high-speed ferry between Salem and Boston has been pushed back to the first weekend in June. -
Proposed school budget focuses on turnaround
SALEM — The school district has built roughly $1 million worth of turnaround programming and initiatives into next year's budget, from hiring assistant principals at the elementary schools to providing extra professional development for teachers and launching a new reading program for non-native and native English speakers.
