DANVERS — The Waters River Bridge is expected to remain closed for the rest of the day due to this morning’s water main break, according to the town of Danvers website.
The 30-inch-diameter pipe broke just north of the bridge, prompting the closing of Waters Street between Endicott Street and South Liberty Street.
Traffic heading east on Endicott Street from Route 128 is being directed north (left) on Water Street towards High Street (Route 35) and Elliott Street (Route 62). Traffic heading south on Water Street is being directed west (right) on Endicott Street toward Route 128.
Traffic heading north on Water Street from Peabody will be directed south (left) on South Liberty Street to Pulaski Street.
Water Street is open to abutting residents and businesses, but the bridge across the Waters River has been shut down to all traffic. Message boards are being set up by the Massachusetts Department of Transportation at appropriate locations to make these detours known, according to the Danvers website.
