GIRLS SOCCER PLAYER OF THE YEAR
ALYSSA MANOOGIAN
Peabody, Jr., Midfield
Manoogian's season didn't end when her Peabody High team - the winningest in school history - fell in the state playoffs. She was soon on a plane to Boca Raton, Fla., gaining a berth in the Region 1 pool for the second time in three years from a competitive field of over 90 athletes. The next step up from Region is the national pool.
Her skills, particularly her ability to distribute the ball and a tremendous shot, have attracted a lot of attention. Manoogian also has a 3.6 GPA and ranks in the top 10 cent of her class.
Manoogian, an attacking midfielder, had 20 goals and 29 assists and will head into her senior season with the Tanners having scored over 100 career points.
"Being named Player of the Year is a great honor. Every year it's like 'Who's going to win it?'," Manoogian said. "I think we had great season with all the challenges we had. I think it showed the character of the team we've got."

Easily the Freshman of the Year on the North Shore ... The 14-year-old (she's 5-foot-6, three inches taller than her sister, Alyssa) had 22 goals and 16 assists for 38 points and constantly showed signs of stardom ... ERIKA DIGIACOMO

A junior captain at 16, she helped fill opposing team's nets with goals for the mighty Tanners' offense ... She totaled 28 goals and 21 assists to pace NEC North scorers ... An EMass and NEC all-star ....3.72 GPA ... Ranks No. 25 in her class among 515 students ... Scored game-winnng goal with 22 seconds left in state tourney game ... Had 2 goals and one assist in that contest.

One of Masco's most versatile performers, a superb three-point weapon for the basketball team, the goalie in soccer and a tennis veteran at No. 1 doubles ... Topsfield resident posted a 15-1-2 record with 12 shutouts and yielded only 7 goals ... Had a two-year slate of 30-4-4 with 21 shutouts and 19 goals against (for a 0.50 GAA) ... 4.4 GPA is ranked 41st in class ... CAL all-star.
ERICA SKINNER

The defensive ace of the Lady Cheftains, the 17-year-old stopper applied for early decision a Hamilton College ... Had 3 goals and 7 assists in her career ... Was sorely missed (bad sprain) in state tourney loss ... All-Cape Ann League ... Hails from Boxford ... 4.2 GPA, ranked 58th in class ... Generally marked her rival's best player defensively.
