Mary Ann O'Connor was named the president and chief executive officer of VNA Care Network & Hospice, a nonprofit home health care, hospice and wellness agency in Danvers. O'Connor has more than 35 years of health care management experience, with 24 years at the senior executive level. Formerly, she was Manhattan regional director for the Visiting Nurse Service of New York, the largest nonprofit home health agency in the United States.

Mandy Sheriff, vice president at J Barrett & Company, was ranked No. 6 among real estate agents on the North Shore for 2011 by MLSPIN. Sheriff had more than $12 million in sales and assisted 15 sets of buyers and sellers last year.

Patricia Scanlan of Salem, Cheryl Springer of Swampscott and Peabody native Joanne Wooldridge of Reading have been named to the board of North Shore Elder Services. The agency provides services to older adults in Peabody, Salem, Danvers, Middleton and Marblehead.

Cheryl Darisse of Salem was named program manager at Aviv Centers for Living's Legacy residence at Woodbridge in Peabody. Darisse previously worked as an activity assistant in Aviv's traditional assisted-living residences and moved to Legacy to launch its activity program. Legacy residence is a special unit designed for those living with Alzheimer's and dementia-related diseases.

Nate Trunfio, a 2005 Hamilton-Wenham Regional High School graduate, has launched a consumer electronics accessory company called CaseInity. Trunfio is in the process of producing an iPhone case that carries a USB cord, facilitating the ability to charge the iPhone on demand.

John Carroll was named chief information officer for East Boston Savings Bank. Carroll's 12 years of banking experience includes serving as the senior vice president of operations technology at Danversbank, where he was responsible for the bank's information technology, data processing and electronic banking. East Boston Savings Bank has local branches in Danvers and Peabody.

Beverly resident Heidi Hanson, president of Hanson Financial Group, was named one of Boston's Five Star wealth managers by Five Star Professional, a marketing firm. Hanson is a certified financial planner and a registered representative of New England Securities. She is a graduate of Providence College.

Brookwood Financial Partners in Beverly completed the acquisition of Lakefront I and II, a four-building, multitenant office building in Orlando, Fla. Brookwood acquires and manages real estate and corporate securities on behalf of its clients.

Lahey Beverly, the Beverly offices for Lahey Clinic, has relocated to a new facility at Connolly Brothers Inc.'s office building at 152 Conant St., Beverly. Connolly Brothers was the construction manager for the primary care practice, which includes doctor's offices, 24 exam rooms, a large waiting and reception area, and laboratory services and bone density testing.

Beverly Kahn, founder and president of New Dimensions in Technology, and Risa Kahn, career agent at NDT, presented a seminar to MIT electrical engineering and computer science students on "Building a Successful Career and Getting a Job Offer in Today's Market." NDT is a boutique placement company specializing in software engineering, information technology, professional services, product management-marketing, sales and new business development professionals.
New business
CrossFit IronSpider, a fitness community, has opened at Shetland Park in Salem. Group instruction is led by certified CrossFit coaches, including head coach Dennis Floyd, a USA Track & Field Level 1 coach. The coaching staff also includes Amanda Capobianco and co-owners Brandi and Steven Dion. CrossFit is a strength and conditioning program that addresses all areas of physical fitness, including stamina, strength and flexibility.
Giving
A free, walk-in acupuncture clinic is being offered for veterans and their families living in communities north of Boston. The Veterans Acupuncture Care Boston/North Shore Clinic is open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. every Saturday at the Vittori-Rocci Post at 143 Brimbal Ave., Beverly. Acupuncture is used to treat emotional effects of post-traumatic stress disorder. The clinic is managed by acupuncturists Paul Madden and Desneige Datillo and is run solely by volunteer practitioners and volunteer support staff.
