Mathew Chetnik of Salem was named one of four outstanding advisers of the year by Alpha Lambda Delta, a national honor society for first-year college students. Chetnik is the adviser for the chapter at Salem State University, where he is associate director of the First Year Experience program. Chetnik was credited with reactivating the Alpha Lambda Delta chapter at Salem State last fall after several years of inactivity. Under Chetnik’s leadership, 147 students at Salem State earned eligibility and were recognized for their achievements by initiation into National Alpha Lambda Delta.
Salem resident Nikki Whittaker has been promoted to the role of program director at HAWC (Healing Abuse, Working for Change), a domestic violence agency serving 23 local communities. In her new role, Whittaker will be responsible for program strategy, integration and direction, and will manage 17 direct service staffers. A 10-year employee of HAWC, Whittaker was most recently director of community programs.
Beverly resident Maureen O’Neill has been named interim vice president of academic affairs at North Shore Community College. O’Neill will replace Paul Frydrych, who is retiring after 42 years at the college. O’Neill has served as dean of liberal studies at NSCC since 1994. A former psychology teacher, she also had a private practice for many years and has a doctorate in counseling psychology from Boston College. She also serves as president of the board of directors of North Shore Community Action Programs.
Catherine Pietrzak has been appointed vice president of ambulatory (outpatient) services at Lahey Health Behavioral Services. Pietrzak will oversee operations at six outpatient counseling and medication clinics on the North Shore and in the Merrimack Valley. Previously, she has worked as director of finance at CASPAR Inc. and as chief financial officer at College Bound.
Panera Bread at 57 Dodge St. in Beverly was one of 32 Panera Bread restaurants to help raise and donate $20,000 to The One Fund Boston, which assists victims of the Boston Marathon bombings.
