Mortgage Network Inc. recently announced that Ted Twombly has joined its team. Twombly came to Mortgage Network from RISO in Danvers, where he served as a district sales manager and corporate sales/customer service representative. Prior to that, he was the director of education for The 735 School House in Wakefield, a middle school and high school social studies teacher, and a school coach for baseball, hockey, soccer and basketball. Twombly is also an active community member and served as town official in Rockport for more than seven years on the Board of Selectman and Planning Board. Twombly earned his Bachelor of Arts in political science from the University of Maine-Orono and his Master's of Education in school administration from Cambridge College.

Mortgage Network Inc. recently announced that David Long has been hired as a loan analyst. Long will be working with Mortgage Network's Specialized Lending Group, where he will evaluate which loan programs are most suitable for customers.

Long came to Mortgage Network from Countrywide Home Loans, where he was an account executive in the Full Spectrum Lending Division in Wakefield. In that role, he helped credit-challenged customers find the right loan and assisted qualifying and nonqualifying customers with strategies to improve their credit. He also managed relationships with Home Loan Consultants in the Peabody branch of the Consumer Markets Division.

Prior to his career in lending, Long spent about eight years as a scientist. He began at the University of Maine as a research assistant focused on the biological control of insect pests using a naturally occurring fungus. After a brief stint as a staff scientist with an environmental consulting firm, he worked at the Institute for Healthcare Improvement in Boston and then the Silent Spring Institute in Newton, where he focused on links between toxins and women's health, especially breast cancer. Long also was a guest instructor at Tufts University, Experimental College in Medford, where he led a class on the United States food industry.

Long earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Williams College and then went on to earn a Master's of Science in entomology from the University of Maine. Long also has a Certificate in Community Environmental Studies from the Department of Urban and Environmental Policy and Planning from Tufts University. Long resides in Beverly.

Beverly National Bank recently celebrated the grand reopening of its North Beverly office on 63 Dodge St. by giving away a gift basket with $1,000 worth of gift certificates to North Beverly businesses. Hedi Kershaw won the raffle prize.
