---- — SALEM — North Shore entrepreneurs looking to win cash and gain some valuable insight from judges and potential investors have until Friday at 5 p.m. to enter the streamlined 2014 North of Boston Business Plan Competition.
The competition, sponsored by the Enterprise Center at Salem State University, is now in its 10th year.
This year, the contest is looking for new business owners to make their best elevator pitch.
Instead of entrepreneurs being asked to submit a 30-page business plan, business owners must give only a brief summary, a few pages of financials and a one-minute video.
The competition is free and open to businesses less than 3 years old, or which have a new product, service, initiative or growth strategy in Essex County and the Merrimack Valley. Entrants must also be willing to have at least five employees within two years. First-place winners receive $5,000, second place $3,000, and third place $2,000.
