Jim Goguen of Jim’s Auto Installations & Detailing Center was awarded Detailing Person of the Year 2013 at the annual Mobile Tech Expo held in Orlando, Fla., the last week of January. Mobile Tech Expo is the largest international show for the appearance and repair-reconditioning professionals in the United States. Jim’s Auto has been a favorite of automotive enthusiasts since 1986, when it was little more than a car audio store inside John’s Citgo on Central Street in Ipswich. Since then, Jim’s has grown into a full-service detailing shop at 5 Washington St. offering a number of automotive services pertaining to the appearance and overall care and upkeep of cars or truck. Goguen has earned a master detailing certification from Renny Doyle’s Detailing Success training and earned a special certification to detail airplanes, yachts, and museum-worthy transportation collectibles and exotics. He was a team leader for the Air Force One detailing project at Seattle’s Museum of Flight in 2011 and continues to bring innovative equipment, products and techniques to the automotive detailing industry.
