Wenham resident Silvia Koch-Brown joined the Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage office in Topsfield as a sales associate. Prior to real estate, Koch-Brown served as a paralegal in the mental health counseling profession. Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage is the largest residential real estate brokerage company in New England.

Beverly resident Patricia Fae Ho has been elected to serve a two-year term as president of the American Association of University Women, where she has also served as vice president. In her role leading the national AAUW Board of Directors, Ho will provide direction and oversight in promoting AAUW’s mission to advance equity for women and girls through advocacy, education, philanthropy and research. Ho graduated as valedictorian from Maryknoll High School in Honolulu, Hawaii, and earned degrees and certification from the University of California, Berkeley; Oregon State University; and the International Teaching and Training Centre in the United Kingdom. The election results for the new AAUW board were announced in June at the 2013 AAUW National Convention, which hosted female leaders from every state.

The BNI Enterprise Chapter in Salem has, for the first time, awarded academic scholarships to Ivelys Arroyo of North Shore Technical High School and Evan Duy Le of Salem High School, both of whom graduated with distinction from their respective high schools and will be attending Fitchburg State University and the University of Southern California, respectively, in the fall. The BNI Enterprise Chapter is the world’s largest business referral organization.

Staples Foundation, the private charitable arm of Staples Inc., has awarded $1,000 to Children’s Friends and Family Services, an organization in Salem whose mission is to provide programs that help families mend relationships, foster independence, and clear the roadblocks toward stable and productive lives. The grant is part of Staples Foundation’s philanthropic initiative called 2 Million and Change, which allows Staples associates around the world to direct funding to nonprofit organizations that are focused on education or job skills.
