Beverly Main Streets and the city of Beverly have awarded $25,000 in grants to downtown property and business owners as part of the 2012 Facade and Sign Improvement Grant Program. This year’s program expanded to include small grants for sign improvements, as well as larger grants for facade improvements. The following properties received grants to improve facades: EJ Cabots Restaurant (280 Cabot St.), Kitty O’Sheas Irish Pub (154-156 Cabot St.), Organic Rainbow (267 Rantoul St.), Pride’s Osteria Restaurant (240 Cabot St.) and R.C. Realty (275-283 Cabot St.). The following properties received grants to improve signs: Greater Beverly YMCA (245 Cabot St.) and Chive Events (252 Rantoul St.). Recipients are in the final stages of completing improvements. Funding for the Facade and Sign Improvement Grant Program is provided by the city’s Community Development Block Grant funds. Beverly Main Streets administers the program and selects recipients who must match or exceed the amount of the grant. Over the last three years, the city has provided $73,000 in grants, while the recipients have spent approximately $200,000 on improvements.
Northeast Senior Health received a $100,000 donation from local philanthropist Ralph Bates to enhance transportation at Spectrum Adult Day Health Program, which serves clients with Alzheimer’s disease and their families. Through the donation, the program has purchased two new passenger vans to transport clients to Spectrum facilities in Beverly and North Andover. Spectrum Adult Day Health Program is a program of Northeast Senior Health’s complete continuum of care for seniors on the North Shore.
