Gordon College’s Scot Radio, a student-run radio station named after the college’s mascot, won an $8,000 grant from the Kendrick Foundation to upgrade and develop the station with such equipment as the Tune Tracker, the Presonus Studiolive Mixer and other necessary technology. Show hosts offer various music programs and cover campus and world news, sports, religious discussions and faculty interviews. The grant also covers membership with the Intercollegiate Broadcast System, a radio network that assists colleges in technical support and direction, offering experienced and professional assistance to promote best practices.

A Higher Balance Healing Center in Salem

was awarded the 2012 Best of Salem award in the Massage Therapy category by the Salem Award Program. The program identifies companies that achieve exceptional marketing success in their local community and business category. A Higher Balance, owned by Marblehead resident Judy Christine Copp, offers private healing sessions with several styles of massage and energy work, meditation, yoga, Reiki and other techniques for personal and spiritual transformation.
