SALEM — More than 250 business and community leaders attended the 91st annual Salem Chamber of Commerce dinner in the atrium of the Peabody Essex Museum.
Helen Medler and the late Anne Turcotte of Hawthorne Tours, two of the major forces in the regional tourism industry, were named Businesswomen of the Year at the Celebrate Salem Awards Dinner.
Michael Wheeler, president and CEO of Beverly Cooperative Bank, was named Businessman of the Year. Wheeler recently expanded the bank’s operation in Salem.
Other award winners: Excellence in Retail, Peabody Essex Museum gift shop, presented to Lynne Francis-Lunn, director of merchandising; Community Service, John Hall of Salem Five; New Business of the Year, Jean-Louis Faber of Jean-Louis Pasta Shop; and Long-Term Achievement Award, Finz Seafood & Grill, which owner George Carey opened 12 years ago.
Winners received an original glass sculpture by Jack Walsh of Dancing Sand Bottle Etching.
