Marblehead resident Eric Levy was appointed chairman of Aviv Centers for Living’s board of directors. Levy is senior vice president and head of product and solutions management at Lincoln Retirement Plan Services, and has previously served as an officer and board member of Cohen Hillel Academy, the Jewish Journal, Jewish Federation of the North Shore and Jewish Community Center of the North Shore. Levy, who succeeds Andrew Katz, joins the following new members of Aviv’s board: Suzanne Gruhl of Marblehead, Dr. Steven Hollis of Beverly, Robert Mazow of Swampscott, Diana Meiches

of Beverly, Andrew Merken of Needham, Mathew Remis of North Andover and Daniel Rubin of Reading. Aviv is a nonprofit that provides senior care. Aviv’s Peabody campus recently reopened after undergoing expansion.

Ray Novack has

joined the Glen Urquhart School in Beverly as the new band director. Novack recently retired after 35 years as a music teacher and director of instrumental ensembles at Beverly High School. He has held leadership roles in the International Association for Jazz Education and was guest conductor of the Eastern District Jazz Bands. Novack was awarded the Outstanding Education Award from the Salem State Alumni Association and was named the 2007 Beverly Rotary Club Distinguished Citizen.

Betty Zakheim

joined SmartBear Software’s Beverly office as vice president of product strategy. Zakheim previously worked as an engineer and engineering manager at General Electric, Raytheon and several other firms, and as a product manager and marketing executive at InConcert, Lightbridge, and other firms. Most recently she ran her own consulting firm, Outside In Solutions. She has bachelor’s degrees in computer engineering, advertising and psychology from Syracuse University, and a master’s in computer science from Boston University.

Marblehead resident James Rudolph, a managing partner of Rudolph Friedmann in Boston, was named to the Massachusetts Restaurant Association’s board of directors. Rudolph has been an associate member of the MRA since 1997. He is also a member of the North Shore Chamber of Commerce, the Anti-Defamation League, The Governor’s Academy, Massachusetts Bar Association and the Massachusetts Conveyances Association.
