The Peabody Area Chamber of Commerce will present the 2011 Harry Ankeles Community Service Award to Mayor Michael Bonfanti in recognition of his leadership, both before and during his tenure as an elected official. The award is given annually to a chamber member who exemplifies the spirit of selfless dedication and leadership to the community that Harry Ankeles exhibited.

Patricia Goodwin of Marblehead, has written a historical novella, "When Two Women Die," about two murders that occurred in Marblehead 301 years apart. The book recently became available online for Kindle users.

The Religion Newswriters Association awarded Swampscott author G. Jeffrey MacDonald third place in the category of religion nonfiction for his 2010 book, "Thieves in the Temple: The Christian Church and the Selling of the American Soul." MacDonald received the award during the annual conference of the Religion Newswriters Association, whose members cover religion in the secular media.

Barbara Smith, an occupational therapist and South Hamilton resident, has published "From Rattles to Writing: A Parent's Guide to Hand Skills," a child development guide written for parents.

The North Shore Technology Council, a nonprofit trade association for northeastern Massachusetts, has elected James Kawski executive vice president and Tom Kinneman vice president of the executive committee. The following members were elected to the board: Keith Boudreau, Antoinette Giulliano, Timothy Lasonde and Shane McCarthy.

Jessica Amabile joined M. Lekkakos, a salon, spa and boutique in Wenham, as a master stylist. Amabile has more than 12 years of professional experience in the hair industry and is a nationally registered hair colorist.

The following Salem residents were recognized for their years of service at Salem State University: Neil Cornacchio, Patricia Ould and Patricia Welch, 25 years; Richard Walsh, 30 years; Anne-Marie O'Keefe, 40 years; and John McHale, 45 years.

Attorney Brian LeClair celebrated the 10-year anniversary of his Marblehead law office at a Marblehead Chamber of Commerce After Hours event. LeClair became a solo practitioner and moved his practice to Marblehead after 30 years in a Boston firm. He is involved locally with the Boy Scouts, Warwick Theater Foundation, Corinthian Sailing Foundation and a variety of other organizations.

Dan Grabauskas of Ipswich was appointed to the Anti-Defamation League's New England board. Grabauskas is a consultant, strategic adviser and chairman of the Chicago-based Bronner Center for Transportation Management. He was formerly general manager of the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority, state secretary of transportation and head of the Massachusetts' Registry of Motor Vehicles.
