Lara Chilton

joined TD Bank’s Beverly office as the senior loan officer in commercial lending. Previously, she was a commercial lender in the Technology Corporate Finance Group at Silicon Valley Bank’s Boston office. Chilton is a graduate of New York University and F.W. Olin Graduate School of Business at Babson College.

Hamilton resident Janice Nigro, a partner at the law firm of Nigro, Pettepit & Lucas in Wakefield, received a Volunteer Recognition Award from the Massachusetts Bar Association for her efforts to educate the legal community on how the practice of probate law has changed with the passage of legislation called the Massachusetts Uniform Probate Code.

Luke Ostrowski

was appointed loan officer for Salem Five Mortgage Co. Previously, he was a senior loan officer at Citizens Bank. Ostrowski earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Massachusetts Amherst and a master’s degree from Florida State University.

Beverly resident Mary Dyer was selected to conduct a workshop titled “Admitted But Left Out? Making Sure Every Student Can Participate in the Life of Your School” at the 2012 National Association of Independent Schools’ People of Color Conference in Texas this coming December. Dyer is the senior associate director of admissions and director of diversity outreach at Pingree School in Hamilton. Dyer will present with Trina Gary , Pingree’s director of multicultural education.

Danvers resident Ronna Thur-Winer and Peabody resident Tom Gould

were named co-chairmen for the 25th annual Walk for Hospice of the North Shore & Greater Boston, which will be held Sunday, Sept. 23. The event raises funds to help the agency continue its mission of serving those affected by life-limiting illness, death and loss.

Jonathan Marcus

has earned the designation of certified financial planner, after completing course work and passing the certification exam. He has been with Marcus Financial Advisors in Beverly since 2008. He is a 2001 graduate of St. John’s Preparatory School and a 2005 honors graduate of Brown University with degrees in biology and medieval studies. Marcus also earned a master’s degree with distinction in medieval English literature from the University of York in England.

Thirteen brokers at J. Barrett & Company, a real estate firm in Beverly Farms, achieved top 20 status on the North Shore, according to MLS Property Information Network, based on total sales volume and total sold between January and August. Manchester resident Mimi Pruett is ranked No. 1, Emily McPherson of Manchester is ranked No. 7 and Hamilton resident Joan Henderson is ranked No. 9. Milestones

The Marblehead Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to welcome new chamber member Eos Designs Studio, 43 Pond St., Rear Cottage, Marblehead. The studio offers jewelry and craft classes, workshops, private parties, and handcrafted and custom-designed jewelry.

Endicott College

in Beverly was recognized as a “Great College to Work For,” according to a new survey by The Chronicle of Higher Education. Endicott was also named one of the 42 institutions on the Honor Roll for being recognized the most in its size category. Endicott won honors in seven out of 12 categories, including Collaborative Governance; Professional/Career Development Programs; Teaching Environment; Compensation & Benefits; Facilities, Workspace & Security; Confidence in Senior Leadership; and Respect and Appreciation.

BankGloucester has acquired North Shore Financial Group, a Beverly-based firm with $20 million in assets under its management. Diane Rule-Enos, sole proprietor of North Shore Financial Group, and her staff join BG Financial Services Group, a newly created division of BankGloucester. North Shore Financial Group’s existing clients will continue their relationship with Rule-Enos and her staff and utilize BankGloucester’s transaction and lending services with BG Financial Services Group.

New businesses

Lucky 7 Arcade celebrated the grand opening of its second adult arcade, this one at the Liberty Tree Mall, 100 Independence Way, Danvers. The smoke-free, alcohol-free arcade includes 40 penny video arcade games, which mimic casino slot machines.
