Boxford resident Mary Rossi, a sales associate affiliated with the Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage office in Topsfield, was recognized as a leading sales associate nationally for the second quarter of 2013. Rossi was among the top 1,000 NRT sales associates who represent the top two percent of performers among NRT’s 42,000 sales associates across the country. NRT is the parent company of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage.

Philip Hayes has been named the executive director of the Journeys of Hope Board, which supports the Journeys of Hope Day Program’s mission to provide homeless and at-risk young adults from North Shore communities with stabilization of emergency needs, life skills programming, capacity building and the development of basic life skills needed for a more stable future. In the past 10 years, prior to joining the JOH Board, Hayes has served Easter Seals of Massachusetts, Action Inc. of Gloucester, and Bass River in Beverly. The Journeys of Hope Day Program is located in Salem.

North Shore Medical Center’s Department of Surgery has honored the following nurses on the NSMC Salem campus with the 2013 Department of Surgery Clinical Excellence and Professionalism Award: Lori Anketell, R.N., PACU Anesthesia; Caitlin Ciampa, R.N., Phippen 7 Patient Care Services; Gary P. Lambert, R.N., Main General Surgery Operating Room; Marian B. Cornejo-Suela, R.N., Davenport 7; and Bonnie A. Sweet, Main General Surgery Operating Room. The Surgery Clinical Excellence and Professionalism Award nursing recipients were nominated by the surgeons with whom they work. Nominations recognize surgeons and nurses who best exemplify professionalism and clinical excellence.

Maureen O’Grady of Beverly celebrated her 10-year anniversary as an independent representative of Silpada Designs, sterling silver jewelry. As a silver manager, O’Grady develops her organization of leaders and representatives by mentoring them to grow their own personal businesses. She was recently awarded the Silpada Career Recruiter Award for achieving a career goal of more than 50 personal representatives.

Essam Al-Ansari was named medical director of the Intensive Care Unit at North Shore Medical Center Union Hospital in Lynn. Dr. Al-Ansari has also joined the staff of NSMC’s Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care, and Sleep Medicine, and will see patients with sleep disorders at NSMC and North Shore Physicians Group’s outpatient pulmonary practice in Salem. Al-Ansari completed his residency in internal medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital followed by a fellowship in pulmonary and critical care in the Harvard Combined program, with training at MGH, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. He subsequently trained in and practiced sleep medicine in Cincinnati, Ohio, and is board certified in sleep medicine as well as pulmonary and critical care medicine.

Milestones

MinuteClinic, the largest provider of retail-based medical clinics in the United States, has opened a new walk-in clinic inside the CVS pharmacy store on 300 Canal St. in Salem. The new clinic marks the 19th on the North Shore and the 43rd location in Massachusetts.

Giving

The North Shore Community College Foundation has received a $20,000 gift from Annette’s Climb Inc. to initiate the Annette’s Climb Scholarship Fund that will benefit students enrolled in NSCC’s Women in Transition program. Based in Groveland, Annette’s Climb Inc., is an organization dedicated to creating community support and awareness for abused women and their children. NSCC’s WIT program is a nurturing learning community formed each fall semester to help women take the first steps toward a college degree.
