Kristin E. Cashman and Andrew T. Burkholder

Miss Kristin Elizabeth Cashman was married Saturday, Sept. 27, 2008 to Mr. Andrew Thomas Burkholder. The marriage was performed at The Church of St. Andrew, Marblehead, by The Reverend Jennie Anderson.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dennis J. Cashman of Marblehead. Her grandparents are Mrs. David W. Brown of Kennebunk, Maine and the late Mr. Brown and the late Mr. and Mrs. Mortimer L. Cashman of Nahant.

Mr. Burkholder is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas B. Burkholder of Montoursville, Pa. and the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Robert J. Wise of Eagles Mere, Pa. and Mr. Bruce C. Burkholder of Williamsport, Pa. and the late Mrs. Anne R. Burkholder.

Mrs. Burkholder wore a light gold satin strapless ball gown with a beaded lace corset, pick-up skirt and chapel length train. Her single tier cathedral length veil was edged with matching beading. Adorning her neck the bride wore a Wise family heirloom pearl necklace which was also worn by the groom's mother and grandmother at their own weddings. She carried a bouquet of orchids and roses.

The bride's twin sister, Mrs. Andrew Smethurst served as matron of honor. The bridesmaids were Miss Meaghan Cashman and Miss Micaela Cashman, sisters of the bride, Miss Alexis Farah and Mrs. Edward Camic. The bridesmaids wore berry colored sleeveless flat taffeta tea length dresses with an empire waist, accented by ruching and a tie back.

The groom's best man was his brother, Mr. Robert B. Burkholder of Lewisburg, Pa. Groomsmen were Mr. Chris Wilson, Mr. Nick Frikker, Mr. Joe Bering and Mr. Parker Terril.

The groom's grandfather, Mr. Wise and Miss Shira Bergman were readers during the ceremony.

A reception at The Nahant Country Club followed the service. When cutting the wedding cake the newlyweds used a West Point Military Academy saber which belonged to the groom's great-grandfather, a brigadier general. The same saber was used by his great-grandparents, grandparents, parents, and several aunts and uncles during their cake cutting ceremonies.

Mrs. Burkholder is a graduate of Bucknell University and is a Ph.D candidate in Physical Oceanography at Duke University. Mr. Burkholder is a graduate of Bucknell University and Virginia Polytechnical Institute and State University. He is employed as a bridge engineer by HSMM / AECOM in Roanoke, Va.

After a wedding trip to Italy and Greece the couple is living in Roanoke.
