Please join me and vote for Maura Ciardiello for Governor’s Council 5th District.
The Governor’s Council, also known as the Executive Council, is composed of eight individuals elected from districts and the lieutenant governor. They have a very important job; among many other tasks, they consent to gubernatorial appointments such as judges, clerk-magistrates, public administrators and members of the Parole Board. They also advise and consent regarding pardons and commutations.
Do you remember the feeling you had when you found out that the man who murdered Woburn police officer Jack Maguire was out on parole? It was the day after Christmas and, like everyone else, you were saying, “How could this happen?” It happened because the then-members of the Parole Board let it happen. A Governor’s Council that represented us, our desires and our ideals wouldn’t have allowed those people on the Parole Board. Think of the Governor’s Council as the person you elect to watch what goes on as far as state-appointed employees go. Among many other things, the Governor’s Council can prevent unqualified people who don’t have our best interests in mind from being appointed to public office.
Maura Ciardiello isn’t a millionaire, she isn’t a CEO. She is a public school teacher by profession, a mother of three and the wife of a Massachusetts state trooper. Maura is a very smart woman who has all the right reasons to want to be our councilor. She’s not one who will allow political pressure to allow the best interests of the people to be pushed aside.
I don’t work for the Ciardiello campaign — these thoughts and words are my own — nor have I sought Maura’s or her campaign’s approval for this letter. I just believe Maura Ciardiello will do the right thing as our governor’s councilor. Please join me Nov. 6 and vote Maura Ciardiello for Governor’s Council.
