Raising awareness about elder abuse
Elder abuse is a growing social problem, despite being the most underreported crime nationwide. On Wednesday at 10 a.m., Danvers Council on Aging, in conjunction with the Elder Justice Network of the Greater North Shore, will raise awareness about this issue through an original play titled “Breaking the Silence: Voices of Hope” at the Danvers Senior Center, 25 Stone St. The performance presents real and inspiring stories from victims of elder abuse and neglect. The show was written by Greater Lynn Senior Services social worker Kelsey McCabe and will be performed by active community members at the Danvers Senior Center. Everyone is invited to attend the free performance and learn more about elder victims of abuse and neglect. For more information, call the Danvers Senior Center at 978-762-0208.
