The Christian Women’s Connection March Brunch will be held on Monday, March 10, from 8:45 to 10:30 a.m. in the Lighthouse Point Room at Danversport Yacht Club, 161 Elliott St., Danvers. Trumpet music by Ronald Westervelt and a presentation, “Surprise Packages,” by Dixie Westervelt on how she has dealt with surprises in her life. Men are welcome to attend this month. Our Lady Star of the Sea Parish in Marblehead presents the following programs in the Parish Center Hall, 80 Atlantic Ave.: “The Psalms,” a scriptural series with Dr. Steven Fahrig on Wednesdays, March 12, 19, 26 and April 2, from 7 to 8:15 p.m.; and “Why Catholic,” a program to increase one’s understanding of the Catholic faith, sacraments and more, on March 2 and 3 through April 5 and 6. Rabbi Emily Mathis will lead a discussion group at Temple Beth Shalom in Peabody on Sundays, March 9, and April 6, from 10:15 to 11:15 a.m. at 489 Lowell St., Peabody. Using “The Sacred Table: Creating a Jewish Food Ethic” as a guide, Mathis will lead a discussion of the Jewish perspective on food and justice, environmental ethics, the history and trends of Jewish dietary practices within reformed Judaism, animal rights and more. Admission to the program is free, but books cost $12 for temple members and $18 for nonmembers. Light refreshments will be served. Temple Beth Shalom’s Adult Education Committee presents “Comparative Religion: The Three Abrahamic Religions,” featuring Dr. Michael Szycher on Sunday, March 2, from 10:15 to 11:45 a.m., at Temple Beth Shalom, 489 Lowell St., Peabody. Szycher presents a layperson’s guide to the similarities and differences between Judaism, Christianity and Islam; sacred time, space and objects; religious rituals, traditions, mysticism and spirituality; and the question, “Can religion and science co-exist?” Complimentary bagels, lox, pastries, and drinks will be available for participants. Reservations are required by Monday, Feb. 24, at bsimons@templebethshalom.org.

On the second Sunday of each month, members and friends of Maple Street Congregational Church collect food and essential items for the Danvers food pantry. Items most needed are baby wipes, disposable diapers in sizes 3 through 6, canned soups, peanut butter, canned tuna and cereal. The church is at 90 Maple St., Danvers.
