The Boston Horns and Wally's Stepchildren promise to set the mood for a great night of music and dancing at the Salem Jazz and Soul Festival Fall Fundraiser on Saturday.
The event is a major fundraiser for the Salem Jazz and Soul Festival, which puts on free concerts for the public and raises money to support music education programs.
There will also be an auction featuring prize packages that include dinner, nights on the town, spa treatments and more.
The concert kicks off at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Salem.
The Boston Horns is a seven-piece funk/jazz/soul band led by Garret Savluk and Henley Douglas Jr., former frontmen of the Heavy Metal Horns.
Wally's Stepchildren is a jazz, funk and fusion band that performs weekly at Wally's Cafe, the oldest jazz club in Boston, according to Matt Caruso, one of the organizers of the Salem Jazz and Soul Festival. He said the band has a few core performers and regularly draws in new musicians, like students from the Berklee College of Music.
"It's just an awesome collection of performers, and you never know what you're going to hear," Caruso said.
Tickets are $15 in advance, $20 at the door, and can be purchased at the Salem Jazz and Soul Festival website, www.salemjazzsoul.org.
