— Looking for something to do today? Here are The Salem News' best bets:

Murray Forbes, the executive director of the Navigator Foundation, will talk about the “Renewal and Metamorphosis” exhibit collection at Salem State University, which features the Navigator Foundation's extensive collection of Russian photographic accomplishments from World War II through the 1990s. Forbes' gallery talk is free and open to the public, and will be held at 12:15 p.m., in the Ellison Campus Center's Winfisky Gallery, located at 352 Lafayette St., Salem. The exhibit is on view through Feb. 7. For more information, call 978-542-7890 or visit salemstate.edu/arts.

Catch the competition between the Danvers and Beverly high school boys basketball teams, who play tonight at 7 p.m., in Beverly High School's gymnasium, located at 100 Sohier Road, Beverly. Before the varsity teams hit the court, fans can watch the boys' freshman game, which tips off at 4 p.m., followed by the junior varsity game at 5:30 p.m. For more information, visit http://www.northeasternma.org/g5-bin/client.cgi.

Humans aren't the only ones who experience stress. Hear professional behaviorist Alana Stevenson, from 7 to 8:30 p.m., present “Understanding Fear, Anxiety and Aggression in Cats & Dogs.” Learn how animals deal with stress; how humans can modify their aggression; and simple behavior modification techniques that help animals overcome their fears and anxieties. The lecture will be held at the Hamilton Wenham Public Library, located at 14 Union St., in South Hamilton. For details, visit www.alanastevenson.com or www.hwlibrary.org.
