It's Puppy Mill Awareness Day in Salem. From noon to 5 p.m. at Salem Common, on Washington Square North, get information about puppy mills and guidance for organizing peaceful protests; take part in a raffle; watch K-9 deomonstrations by the Essex County Sheriff's Department and Salem K-9 units, and meet Lilly, the hero pit bull, who rescued her human from certain death. Storyteller Alicia Quintano will bring her combination of humor and dramatic interpretation to a performance of folktales and original songs at Abbot Public Library, 235 Pleasant St., Marblehead.
