---- — Following a 10-year struggle to leave their home in Russia, Anna Shapiro and her family emigrated to the United States in 1988 and have been living in the Boston area ever since. Shapiro, who was born in Moscow, Russia, in 1941, will visit the Beverly Public Library on Monday as part of the library’s Monday Mornings lecture series to discuss her self-published memoir, “Threads of Fate,” which tells the story of five generations of her family, from the late 19th century to the present, living in both Russia and America. She’ll explain how her family survived in Russia under Joseph Stalin, the KGB, through the war and the long process of emigrating to the United States. Light refreshments will be served at 9, followed by the program from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. in the library’s Sohier Room at 32 Essex St., Beverly. Admission is free and open to adults. For more information, email Robin at, or call the library at 978-921-6062.
