The reader's eye

Name: David P. McKenna

Hometown: Danvers

Description: “I was plowing at the Rebecca Nurse Homestead in February at 6 a.m. when I saw the full moon hanging balefully over the house. I cursed myself for not having taken a good camera with me, then did the best I could with my Apple iPhone, tramping around in knee-deep snow to find the best angle.

“A cemetery superintendent and lover of history, I have no problem turning my car around to go back for a shot of something that caught my eye. Digital photography gives me the freedom to take a plethora of shots, hoping for that one perfect frame. I am now developing a technique for shooting stereo views digitally.”

Camera info: Apple iPhone

PHOTO STAFF CRITIQUE

A peaceful winter scene. The moon nestled in between the wedges of trees is a big part of the successful composition. Color of the sky works well with the color of the house. A wide horizontal band of light blue at the bottom forces the focus on the top half of the image.

As stated, the photo would have had better quality if shot with an SLR. The photographer still got the shot, but the iPhone image is a little coarse.
