GIMME SHELTER BIRDHOUSE AUCTION. Sunday, Sept. 29, 1 to 3 p.m., Artists’ Row, 24 New Derby St., Salem. A silent auction of birdhouses made by local artists and the community at large. Live music and food from local restaurants will be provided. Birdhouses on display throughout artists’ spaces on Artists’ Row. Live music by BlackDogBrother. TASTE OF THE GABLES. Sunday, Sept. 29, 5 to 8 p.m., House of the Seven Gables, 115 Derby St., Salem. Join 26 local chefs, wineries/brewers and distillers as they offer their specialties and compete for Best Chef and Best Beverage under a tent on the Gables’ oceanfront lawn. Live and silent auction. Proceeds go toward matching a grant received by Mass Cultural Council for the preservation of the Gables’ eight historic houses. Tickets $75 per person, available at

BENEFIT PERFORMANCE. Friday, Sept. 27, 6 p.m., North Shore Music Theatre, 62 Dunham Road, Beverly. Join North Shore Community Action Programs and the North Shore Music Theatre for a pre-show reception at 6 p.m. with a light dinner, cash bar, raffle prizes and a chance auction, followed by an 8 p.m. performance of “La Cage aux Folles.” Event supports NSCAP’s homeless prevention services on the North Shore.
