Name: Corey Kramer
Description: “I pass by this view every day on my way to school. This photo was taken at Endicott Beach. I enjoy taking photos of nature, which does not require human recognition to show its beauty. I have done very little photography but recently have been drawn to the medium and have grown to like it.”
Camera info: Nikon DSLR d5100, 18-55 mm lens
PHOTO STAFF CRITIQUE
The photographer uses the rule of thirds to effectively balance the image while exposing it to separate the sky, ocean and grass. The long shadows cast across the lawn guide the viewer’s eye easily from left to right across the frame, while the boathouse on the right provides an anchor for the eye to rest on. The choice to take a black-and-white photograph makes the image more powerful and accentuates the shadows cast across the photo.
