The Beverly Council on Aging will host a discussion for baby boomers facing decisions with aging parents this August at the Senior Center at 90 Colon St. in Beverly. The YMCA of the North Shore summer camps are registering for the 2009 season. There are a broad range of age-appropriate programs, events and activities, with various schedules to fit parents' needs. Camps run in one- or two-week sessions; many give participants a choice of days to attend. Camps may accommodate children as young as 3, and up to 16, in counselor-in-training programs. The Honor A Teacher program supports Beverly Public Schools. The Northshoremen Chorus is holding a Harmony Extreme Camp at Worcester State College Aug. 6 to 9, a three-day camp for male high school students, music educators (male and female), and collegiate music education majors (male and female). The Beverly Council on Aging offers health services: health assessments every Monday, 8 to 10 a.m., by appointment, and the first Tuesday of the month, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., no appointment necessary. Walk-in blood pressure clinics the first and third Thursday each month, 9 to 11 a.m., and the third Tuesday of each month, 8:30 to 10 a.m. Hearing clinics are held the last Friday of the month at 9 a.m., and a podiatrist visits the second and fourth Friday, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., for $25 per appointment. SHINE (Serving Health Information Needs of Elders) counselors are available by appointment on Tuesdays and Fridays to help with prescription advantage enrollment.
