Best Bets for Saturday, March 16, and Sunday, March 17

Wear your Irish green in honor of St. Patrick's Day and join the Danvers Bi-Peds for a walk around the Port section of Danvers, including Sandy Beach, John George Park and other places along the way. The walk starts at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Leashed dogs are welcome to join. Park at Pope's Landing, located at 8 Harbor St. Danvers. Recycle or take home books, greeting cards, CDs, DVDs and videos that have been recycled during SalemRecycles' free book swap on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Senior Center, 5 Broad St., Salem. No swap is needed; participants can choose to donate materials, take materials or do both. Donations may be dropped off anytime between 9:30 a.m. and noon today. Volunteers will be available to help. North Shore Dog will host a benefit dog wash from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 139 Endicott St., behind Market Basket in Danvers. The dog wash will benefit the Friends of Danvers Dog Park, a group of residents raising money to build a dog park at Endicott Park. Baths will be offered for free, but a $20 donation is suggested. Each bathed dog will be decorated with a festive bandana. Coffee, doughnuts and cookies will be available for purchase. For more information, call 978-777-1428.
