Rt. Rev. M. Thomas Shaw, bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Massachusetts, 10 a.m., St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 4 Ocean St., Beverly. Boston-based Renaissance ensemble returns with "(Counter)Reformation: Musical Responses to a Crisis of Faith," featuring music of Le Juene, Senfl, Byrd and other composers active during the difficult years of the Protestant Reformation and the Roman Catholic Church's response. Catholic Marriage Vow Renewal Mass, 4 to 11 p.m., the Knights of Columbus Leo Council 508, 96 Main St., Peabody. Every year, the Archdiocese of Boston designates February as the month to honor the sacrament of marriage. Dinner and dancing to follow Mass at the hall. Marriage renewal certificates provided to all who renew vows. Guests and family members invited. $25 per person. Choral Evensong, and Instrumental Recital "Of Hearts and Passion," 4 p.m., Ascension Memorial Episcopal Church is at 31 County St. in Ipswich. With Choir of Ascension Church, featuring music by Thomas Attwood Walmisley and Philip Ledger. A free-will offering for Haiti relief efforts will be accepted. Immediately following, at 5 p.m., baroque ensemble Trés, Ascension's new ensemble-in-residence, will offer baroque music extolling love and life.
