Events for families on the North Shore

Castle Hill Tours: The Great House: Revealed tours are offered through Oct. 12 at the Crane Estate, 290 Argilla Road, Ipswich, on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. (last tour at 3 p.m.), and Fridays and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. (last tour at 1 p.m.). TTOR members, $7 adults, free for children age 12 and under; nonmembers, $12/adult, free/children. Castle Hill Estate Tour: The Designed Landscape offered Thursdays and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. through Oct. 26. Marblehead Festival of Arts: 48th annual festival from July 4 to 7 at venues throughout Marblehead. MFoA kicks off with the 2013 Film Festival on July 3, 9 to 10:30 p.m., at Crocker Park; parents should preview the film lineup as some films may not be appropriate for younger children. MFoA activities include performing arts at Crocker Park, Artisans’ Marketplace outside Abbot Hall, exhibits on view at various locations in town, activities at Devereux Beach, Unitarian Universalist Church, King Hooper Mansion and Abbot Hall. Wenham Museum: “Wheels: Getting from Here to There,” on view through Sept. 22 at the Wenham Museum, 132 Main St. Learn how people moved themselves and their belongings 200 years ago, and how moving from place to place has evolved since then. View historic photos and artifacts, and the toys that transportation inspired. “Crowning Glory: Hats for Every Occasion,” on view through Aug. 11. Celebrate hats and their many uses with an array of headgear from the museum’s own collection. A century of caps and bonnets, shakos and top hats, whimsies and fascinators, stocking caps and huge cartwheels adorned with ostrich plumes are among some of the hats on view. “Bow-Wow Wiggle-Waggle” on view through Aug. 25. Follow a red bouncing ball through a story, illustrated with watercolors, about a boy and his dog who discover their love for each other during a game of fetch. “Castles in the Clouds,” open through Sept. 29. Learn about the busy community in a medieval castle, then dress in costume and play in the castle.
