Salem: 12th Annual Phillips House Car Meet, noon to 3 p.m. at the Phillips House, 34 Chestnut St. Free admission. Join the North Shore Old Car Club for the 12th Annual Car Meet, featuring vintage and antique vehicles on display, including the Phillips family’s collection of carriages, two Pierce-Arrows and a Model A Ford. 978-744-0440.

Wednesday, Aug. 14

Marblehead: Marblehead Meanderings: Beach Exploration, 10 to 11:30 a.m. at Chandler Hovey Park, at the end of Follett Street, off Ocean Avenue on Marblehead Neck. For families and children ages 4 to 12. Join instructors Joan McDuff, Susan McMullen and Laurie Hark at Grace Oliver Beach during low tide and discover the life along the sandy coastline. Walk across mudflats to Crowninshield Island to search for tiny fish, hermit crabs, periwinkles, and other sea creatures, and explore the island and its unusual variety of landforms. Ipswich: Castle Hill Summer Picnic Concert Series: The Brew, 7 to 9 p.m., Castle Hill, 290 Argilla Road. Rock music. Gates open 5 p.m. for picnicking, and close once capacity is reached. Ipswich: Children’s Treasure Hunt at The Great House on Castle Hill, 11 to 11:45 a.m., 290 Argilla Road. For families with children ages 4 to 8. A 45-minute guided treasure hunt throughout the Crane family mansion. $10/nonmember adult and child, $5 for each additional child; $8/adult member and one child. Ipswich: Family Farm Dinners: Earth Oven Pizza Nights, 5:30 p.m., Appleton Farms, 219 County Road. Join the farm staff and a volunteer guest chef for a Friday night pizza party on the farm. Children can visit the chickens, pick herbs for their pizzas, and play some good old fashioned games while homemade pizzas are baked in the new earth oven in the outdoor kitchen. Salad (from the farm) and tart lemonade for all. Attendees can also make their own ice cream for dessert; bring a bowl.
