Pet of the Week

Mumtaz is a declawed Siamese who loves people and had the same owner for 13 years, until she got too old to take care of a pet. Mumtaz is a purebred Applehead Siamese cat — like the cat that came to this country from Siam, as a present from the king. That’s why she has the same name as the queen for whom the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan erected the Taj Mahal. She does not, however, need a jewel-encrusted palace, or even a throne — just some love.

In addition to being beautiful, Mumtaz is mature and mellow. She likes to sleep in the sun or a warm place like the radiator, and nothing pleases her more than a nice, warm lap. She would be delighted to find a nice, mature person or people just like her. Mumtaz has had no experience with other cats or animals, so she should probably be an only pet. She has also been through a lot, including separation from loved ones and introduction into a very different environment at PetSmart, so she will require patience at first. But there is no question that she would settle into, and would appreciate, a forever home.

Anyone interested in learning more about Mumtaz or other adoptable cats or kittens should contact PAWS at 781-246-6111 or PAWSwakefield@yahoo.com. The adoption center at the Danvers PetSmart at 104 Andover St. will hold its usual adoption hours Thursday and Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m.
