Sunday, Jan. 6

Festival of Christmas Lessons and Carols, 5 p.m., Christ the Redeemer Anglican Church, 188 Elliott St., Danvers. The choir will sing music of William Billings, Charles Callahan, John Joubert, Austin Lovelace, Alice Parker, John Weaver and others. Service of Lessons and Carols, 5 p.m., St. Michael’s, 26 Pleasant St., Marblehead. Music includes “A Child My Choice” by Richard Dirksen, “Bethlehem Down” by Peter Warlock and “What Sweeter Music” by John Rutter. Event also features the world premiere of “Magnificat and Nunc Dimittis,” newly composed by organist and Salem resident Douglas Major. “The Boy in the Striped Pajamas,” 7 p.m., Temple Beth Shalom, 489 Lowell St., Peabody. The Adult Education Committee presents screening of story about Bruno, the 8-year-old son of the commandant at a concentration camp during World War II, whose forbidden friendship with a Jewish boy on the other side of the camp fence has startling and unexpected consequences. Friday, Jan. 11

Learn about guide dogs, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., Unitarian Universalist Church of Greater Lynn, Parish Hall, 101 Forest Ave., Swampscott. A representative from “Guiding Eyes,” an internationally accredited guide dog school, will be present. Evening starts with a short children’s story, followed by information about the dogs. Dublin, a trained guide dog, will visit. Pizza, salad, drinks and cookies served.
