Soup for social action

This evening, get in line for piping-hot soup, served in a handmade, one-of-a-kind bowl, at St. John’s Prep’s Empty Bowls Dinner Party. The event, which begins at 6, will be held in the Memorial Dining Hall on the school’s campus, 72 Spring St., Danvers. Bowls created by St. John’s students may be purchased at the party for a minimum donation of $10 each and filled with soups donated by local restaurants and food shops. SwingTown!, St. John’s a cappella group, will serenade attendees with music. All proceeds from the event will benefit Haven From Hunger, a nonprofit food pantry and meal program in Peabody. The Empty Bowls event is part of a nationwide initiative for potters to use creativity to promote social action. For more information, visit www.stjohnsprep.org.
