WALK FOR A NEW SPRING. Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2:30 p.m., Veterans Memorial Bridge, Salem. SKATEBOARD WORKSHOP. The Community Architecture Lab, a nonprofit design studio based in Salem, will hold a five-day workshop for students to learn how to construct a high-performance longboard deck, including trucks, wheels and bearings. The class will run Feb. 18 through 22 at two separate times: 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m. Cost is $300 per person and includes materials and hardware. MONDAY SCHOOL VACATION WEEK AT PEM. Monday, Feb. 18, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Peabody Essex Museum, East India Square, Salem. Part of weeklong celebration of the many ways that people play around the world. Events include giant games and games from different cultures from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; abstract magnetic puzzles, 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.; indoor hopscotch design, 1 to 4 p.m.; yo-yo show from 11 to 11:45 a.m. and 1:30 to 2:15 p.m.; and a screening of “Alice in Wonderland” from 2:30 to 3:45 p.m. Included with museum admission.
