Teens ages 11 to 18 are invited to participate in a four-week inventors workshop that starts this afternoon at the Peabody Institute Library, 82 Main St., Peabody. In "Invent It, Build It," teens will work together to create solutions to design challenges, and build, test and share their own confetti launchers and more.The workshop takes place from 4 to 5 p.m. and space is limited. Kick off a Salem tradition tonight from 6:30 to 8 p.m., as the Haunted Happenings Grand Parade takes over downtown Salem. This annual event is filled with pageantry, music, and the enthusiasm of thousands of Salem’s students from kindergarten to college. The parade begins at Shetland Park and ends at Salem Common. Montserrat College of Art will host a family-friendly outdoor screening of “Hocus Pocus” on a 30-foot inflatable movie screen on the Beverly Commons tonight at 8. Water, popcorn and cotton candy will be available for $1 each. Short films created by Montserrat students will play before the feature film. In the case of rain, the event will take place on Friday, Oct. 4. Bring lawn chairs, blankets and warm clothing. Beverly Commons is at 23 Essex St., Beverly.
