Catching up with the cows

Every Saturday, starting tomorrow, families with children ages 5 and older can meet the cows of Appleton Farms, explore the farmstead buildings, and visit with calves and heifers. Inquisitive attendees can also visit these creatures in the dairy barn during milking, a time that is ordinarily closed to the public. Appleton Farms, a property of the Trustees of Reservations, is located at 219 County Road, Ipswich. The cattle will be ready for visitors at 2:30 p.m. Admission costs $5 for Trustees members and $5 for nonmembers. For more information or to register, call 978-356-5728 or visit www.thetrustees.org.
