Best Bets for Monday, June 24

Looking for something to do today? Check out The Salem News' Best Bets:

Join the Children's Room at Ipswich Town Hall for a "Flash Read" at 2 p.m. to officially start the 2013 Summer Reading Program, called "Dig Into Reading!" The community is invited to join Ipswich Library's staff for a group read; bring a book or hear one read. Afterwards, everyone will return to the library for activities, snacks, and a special surprise. Children and adults of all ages are invited. The town hall is located at 25 Green St., and the library is at 25 North Main St. in Ipswich. For more information, visit http://www.ipswichlibrary.org/.

Bring a lawn chair or blanket to Danvers Family Festival's History, Harmony, Hotdogs & Hits from 5 to 8 p.m., at Glen Magna Farms at Endicott Park. Enjoy hot dogs, root beer floats, ice cream, drinks, music by Britannica, and vintage baseball featuring the Essex Baseball Club versus the Danvers High School Baseball Team. The teams will play on the activity field at 6 p.m., and will be using the old time rules of the game. Everyone is welcome to attend, but pets and coolers should stay home. A small donation from each adult is appreciated. In case of rain, the event will be moved to July 1. Endicott Park is located on Ingersoll Road in Danvers. For more information, visit www.danversfamilyfestival.com.

Join the Monday Night Book Club at the Hamilton-Wenham Public Library for a discussion on “The Right-Hand Shore,” by Christopher Tilghman. Copies of the book are available at the reference desk. The group will meet from 7:15 to 8:30 p.m. at 14 Union St. in South Hamilton. For more information, contact Rebecca Shea at 978-468-5577 or rshea@mvlc.org.
