Creative workshops

ZENTANGLE GROUP TO MEET. Thursday, April 11, 10 a.m., Peabody Institute Library, 82 Main St., Peabody. First meeting of the bimonthly group. Zentangle is a method that uses structured patterns to create artwork. Drop-in group for people to work on their own projects in a social environment; assistance will be available for those new to the Zentangle technique. Attendees should bring their own supplies: white card stock, a black micron pen and a pencil. INTRODUCTION TO FIELD SKETCHING. Saturday, April 13, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Ipswich River Wildlife Sanctuary, 87 Perkins Row, Topsfield. Join Sandy McDermott to learn the art of field sketching, a quick tool used for capturing the surrounding environment. First part of the class will be spent indoors learning and practicing with a pencil. After lunch, work outdoors, weather permitting, and practice with pen and ink, colored pencils, and watercolors. PHOTOGRAPHING WILDLIFE. Sunday, April 14, 1 to 4 p.m., Ipswich River Wildlife Sanctuary, 87 Perkins Row, Topsfield. Designed for beginner to intermediate photographers and all types of cameras, the field class with naturalist and photographer Bob Speare will cover various camera settings and compositional techniques that will enhance wildlife shots. $30/general, $25/Mass Audubon members.
