Underwater beauty surfaces
Explore the colorful and diverse underwater region off the Atlantic coast while sitting in a chair at Abbot Public Library. On Wednesday from 7 to 8:30 p.m., underwater photographer, author and diver Andrew Martinez presents “The Color and Beauty of New England’s Underwater World,” an illustrated talk accompanied by Martinez’s photos of different underwater species. Martinez will discuss these creatures and their reproduction, feeding, unique behaviors and color variations. This armchair tour is a “bonus lecture” in the 2014 Underwater in Salem Sound Lecture Series sponsored by Salem Sound Coastwatch and Abbot Public Library. The event is free and open to the public. The library is at 235 Pleasant St. in Marblehead. For details, call 781-631-1481 or visit www.abbotlibrary.org.
