North Shore religion news in brief

The Women’s Council of Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary presents its annual Advent Lessons and Carols program on Thursday, Dec. 5, at 10:30 a.m. in Gordon-Conwell’s Kaiser Chapel, 130 Essex St., South Hamilton, followed by a luncheon in the Alumni Hall. The cost for the program and luncheon is $12.75 per person. The Temple Sinai Art Gallery is seeking artists for its January 2014 exhibit, “The Tree of Life,” at Temple Sinai, 1 Community Road, Marblehead. For more information and to submit artwork, visit www.templesinaiweb.org/gallery.

Members of the Danvers Clergy Association, including Catholic, Protestant and Unitarian Universalist denominations, will host a traditional, interfaith Thanksgiving service for the entire community on Tuesday, Nov. 26, at 7 p.m., at Maple Street Congregational Church, 90 Maple St., Danvers. Donations of gently used or new winter coats and boots will be collected and donated to homeless families. This year’s Thanksgiving offering will be donated to Wellspring, an interfaith council, helping homeless families in crisis on the North Shore. Following the service, there will be a time for fellowship and light refreshments.

The Christian Women’s Connection December brunch will be held on Monday, Dec. 9, from 8:45 to 10:30 a.m. in the Lighthouse Point Room at the Danversport Yacht Club, 161 Elliott St., Danvers. This month’s event features songs of the season and guest speaker Alice Kellogg, a cancer survivor and paraprofessional in special education, who will share about God’s sustaining power through life’s obstacles. Brunch is $13 inclusive. Free baby-sitting available for children up to age 5. Reservations are required by Saturday, Dec. 7.
