---- — Making massive sculptures
Reno “Ray” Pisano of Nahant, a founding faculty member at Montserrat College of Art, will discuss the making of large-scale sculpture on Monday from 6:30 to 9 p.m. in the Sohier Room at the Beverly Public Library, 32 Essex St. Pisano will use the Lincoln Memorial as an example, explaining how the massive likeness of America’s 16th president was created from an original 5-foot model, then enlarged to become a 19-foot sculpture, and finally transported from New York to Washington, D.C., in 22 separate pieces. Pisano, who was born in 1923 in Lynn and began sculpting at age 12, works in marble, granite, resins, wood and classic bronze casting. The event is free, with refreshments served at 6:30 p.m., followed by lecture and discussion at 7 p.m. To RSVP, contact Elizabeth Gianino at firstname.lastname@example.org or 978-921-4242, ext. 1121.
