North Shore Community Development Coalition’s eighth annual event includes a live and silent auction, a special guest speaker, a plated dinner, festive cocktails, music by the Daniel Bennett Jazz Band, and the 2012 Pillars of the Community Awards. GIVING GARDEN. Five trees, each dedicated to a local charity organization, in the Best Buy wing at the Liberty Tree Mall, 100 Independence Way, Danvers, during mall hours through Thursday, Dec. 27. Each tree contains ornaments of wishes specific to each charity/organization. Holiday festivities

COMMUNITY CAROL SING. Thursday, Nov. 29, 6:30 p.m., Community House of Hamilton and Wenham, 284 Bay Road, Hamilton. A 30-minute singalong led by Brian Doser, Peter Stewart and Joe Scuderi. CHRISTMAS IN SALEM. The 33rd anniversary of Christmas in Salem on Friday, Nov. 30, Saturday, Dec. 1, and Sunday, Dec. 2, featuring holiday house tours of eight private homes and cottages dating from the Victorian era into the early 20th century, wine tastings, holiday tea, concerts, discounts at various locations, a talk on the Salem Willows neighborhood, shopping, and complimentary trolley rides. The Preview Candlelight Tour will be held Friday from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. for advance ticket holders only, and features three homes by the sea. All sites will be open for tours on Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and Sunday, 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Also, a holiday concert at The House of the Seven Gables will be held Saturday, and tickets cost $10 per person. Proceeds will benefit both Historic Salem Inc. and The House of the Seven Gables. Advance tickets cost $25 each for Historic Salem members and $30 each for the general public.
