The reader's eye

Name: John Forrant

Hometown: Beverly

Description: “It was a very overcast and drizzly day when I shot this. I was out looking to shoot some long-exposure photos. The surf was actually very hard when I shot it. The long exposure really altered the way the water looks.

“I love shooting most anything, especially landscapes.”

Camera info: Canon T2i, ND400 filter, tripod with cable release, F20 at three minutes

PHOTO STAFF CRITIQUE

“With this long-exposure image, the waves coming ashore become misty and cloudlike. The subtle tones of the water and sand make the dark wooden posts pop out more, drawing the viewer’s eye to the center of the frame. The way the photographer framed the image leads the viewer’s eye off into the distance, along the wooden pillars, and creates a nice balance and serene mood for the photograph.”
