NATURE ADVENTURES WITH PICTURE BOOKS: WHO COMES FROM AN EGG? Tuesday, July 9, 9:30 to 11 a.m. at Ipswich River Wildlife Sanctuary, 87 Perkins Row, Topsfield. For families with children ages 3 to 6. Read “Animal Babies that Hatch” by Robert O’Brien, then go on a hike in search of eggs and try to figure out what might hatch from each. Cost $9 adults, $7 children (member discounts available). READING IS MAGIC. Tuesday, July 9, 11 a.m., Topsfield Town Library, 1 S. Common St., Topsfield. Ed the Wizard uses magic, comedy and suspense to weave together the importance of building and maintaining reading skills for all ages. Supported in part by a grant from the Topsfield Cultural Council. Food and workshops

ANNUAL LOBSTER ROLL SALE. The Victory Chapter No. 157 Order of the Eastern Star will hold the sale from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Thursday, July 4, and Saturday, July 6, at the Masonic Temple, 62 Pleasant St., Marblehead. Rolls will be served with pickles and chips; chicken, tuna and egg salad rolls, hot dogs, clam chowder, minestrone soup, beverages, and baked goods will also be available to purchase. Also, attendees will have a chance to test their luck at the table of “opportunities.”

FROM THE KITCHEN GARDEN: COOKING WITH FRESH HERBS. Saturday, July 6, 10 a.m. to noon, Appleton Farms, 219 County Road, Ipswich. The Appleton Cooks! program presents a two-hour class, taught by chef-teacher Debbie Powell, to learn the qualities, uses and treatment of fresh herbs grown at Appleton Farms.
