Hear a collection of stories gathered over the years in “Stories my Mother and Other Strangers Told Me," tonight at 7 at First Church, Cleveland Room, 316 Essex St., Salem. Jim McAllister’s Winter 2013 Lecture Series presents stories from Bowman’s Bakery, the Essex Camera Shop, street corner conversations, local publications, unpublished memoirs, unsolicited letters and other sources. Also tonight at 7, the Salem Peace Committee presents a free screening of the film "Body of War" in the St. James Conference Room, at the corner of Bridge and Flint strets, Salem. "Body of War" tells the story of an Iraq War veteran who was paralyzed from a bullet to the spine and his physical and emotional journey as he begins to question war in Iraq.
